In this segment on authority, we discuss the true meaning of authority as a reflection of God’s love and goodness, and then we apply this definition to parental authority. We explore how research into parenting styles supports the Catholic Church’s understanding of authority, and how authoritative parents are more likely to lead children to be successful adults.

This is just one lesson from the Embrace Parenthood program for Catholic adults. Embrace Parenthood teaches the eight foundations of good Catholic parenting. It is intended for all parents, but especially for parents of younger children. Putting these eight principles into practice early in your child’s life will lay a solid foundation on which to build when your child is older.
