Description

In Secrets of Siena, Sister Philomena and the children visit Siena, on vacation, planning to attend the famous Palio horse race and festival. They also visit the original home of Saint Catherine of Siena and run smack into a mystery!. An original letter of Saint Catherine – never before discovered – is being ransomed to the Pope. Clues send the investigating team to Avignon, France and the famous Palace of the Popes. Here the children learn about the history of the Church in the 1300s when the papacy was forced to flee from Rome to Avignon for safety, and Saint Catherine’s role in bringing it back to Rome.
