Apologetics is the teaching of why we believe what we believe as Catholics. While this discipline plays a key role in true ecumenical dialogue, it is also valuable for Catholics who want to enter more deeply into the Mystery of the Faith. This series will introduce you to the concept of Apologetics, provide a template for apologetic thought, and then apply that template to they question, “Did Christ intend to establish a Church?”

Modules in This Course

What is Catholic Apologetics?

What does “apologetics” mean? Are we apologizing for being Catholic? This module will teach you the meaning of apologetics and offer some guidance for using this discipline in true ecumenical dialogue.

Keys to Apologetics

In this module, you’ll learn a template for showing people why Catholics believe what we believe. This template is the way the Church approaches all doctrine and theology. It will offer you a way to prepare discussions with others or to bolster your own belief through personal study in the Faith.

Did Jesus Intend to Establish a Church

One question many non-Catholics (and some Catholics) ask is whether Jesus really intended to establish a Church, and especially a hierarchical Church (specifically, the Catholic Church). In this unit, we’ll apply our template to answer this question.
