Dr. John Bergsma is an Associate Professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville and was a Protestant pastor for four years before converting to the Catholic Church. In “Dead Sea Scrolls,” Dr. Bergsma shows how our respect for the traditional canon of Scripture and our understanding of the Catholic Faith can be greatly enhanced by the Dead Sea Scrolls- the greatest archaeological discovery of all time. The Dead Sea Scrolls are more than mere archaeological curiosity. They shed important light on the Gospels. These are writings kept by a Jewish sect during the time of Jesus. As such, they corroborate much of our understanding of the Gospel as Catholics. But they also shed light on some Gospel mysteries. Dr. John Bergsma does an excellent job explaining the importance of these scrolls and, more importantly, of teaching the Gospel in their light.
